The Tenement House – Life in 20th Century Glasgow
An authentic time capsule of life in early 20th-century Glasgow
Step inside a perfectly preserved early‑20th‑century Glasgow flat and experience urban life as lived by Miss Agnes Toward from 1911 to 1965. This four‑room tenement—complete with original furniture, coal-fired kitchen range, gas lighting and personal effects—offers an intimate glimpse into the domestic world of a working woman in her era. Guided by knowledgeable staff, visitors discover everyday artifacts, quirky items like a jar of 1929 jam, and the stories that shaped a Glasgow community at its industrial peak.
