The Best Time of Year to Visit Glasgow

The best time to visit Glasgow depends on what you want to experience:

  • Spring (March–May): Longer days, milder weather and blooming parks like Kelvingrove and Pollok Country Park make it a great time for exploring on foot. March brings the Glasgow Comedy festival at iconic venues like The Stand
  • Summer (June–August): The city comes alive with events, outdoor dining and a packed gig calendar. It’s the busiest season, but perfect for soaking up Glasgow’s music and festival scene. The vibrant Merchant City festival is a July highlight, a lively and family friendly arts weekend.
  • Autumn (September–November): Crisp air, golden parkland and a slightly slower pace make this a lovely time for museums, galleries and cosy pub evenings.
  • Winter (December–February): Festive markets, twinkling lights and a brilliant indoor culture scene mean there’s still plenty to enjoy — just wrap up warm.): Magical Christmas markets and Hogmanay celebrations, though temperatures can be chilly.

Whenever you choose to visit, this 2-day Glasgow itinerary using the Glasgow City Pass helps you see the highlights efficiently while still leaving time to enjoy the city’s atmosphere.
